A Kiss from Tokyo

It’s a book trailer! I am so into book covers for things that aren’t books and movie trailers for things that aren’t movies. I want the next plastic mixing bowl I buy at Target to come with a trailer.

Here’s the book being trailer-ed. Love this style!

Another version over at Art of the Title.

love it, robin! very sexy. question (for everyone): i'm working with an author on a book that's about to move into the publicity phase, and she's totally psyched about the idea of doing a trailer. we've seen a few, but does anybody have other favorites we should be aware of?

If the Broccolis aren't behind this book, the folks who are better be ready for their lawsuit. They're known as ultra-fierce defenders of their Bond franchise.

@Pat: I've definitely seen a few that I liked.

Sloane Crosley's diorama videos functioned as a kind of book trailer. Very cool, lovely idea (though, I will be honest... I did not actually watch them):

I loved Stephen Berlin Johnson's "Invention of Air," but, as a counter-example, I don't think this is the way to do a book trailer:

1. Doesn't look or feel at all trialer-y
2. Too much head, not enough heart

Hmm, I'll keep thinking.

Ah! Just found this one via Rex, for Pynchon's new book. It is GOOD. (I mean: Not perfect. I'd drop the music. And make it shorter. But, it does what a book trailer should do, I think. It's one of the best I've seen.)

re: Inherent Vice - It may actually be Pynchon narrating the trailer (I'm convinced it is):

That man is a glutton for attention.
