I liked this a lot: "Get out of the fetal position and try something."
I actually loved this: "The poor and homeless, he says, look to us as spectres of our potential futures, we harbor a paralyzing fear that we will have to walk among them in slow-motion. We're afraid of trying anything risky or consequential or subversive because we can't fathom becoming them."
Maybe it speaks to the fetal position thing, too -- refusing to be contained by fear.
(I'm thinking a lot about what it means to be fearless lately -- partly because I've taken it on myself to discharge the most important lesson of a father gives a child, which is how to be fearless.)
