It is a movie! Isabelle Adjani plays Claudel and Gerard Depardieu plays Rodin. My ex, Laura, loved it.

I should also add that I like Camille Claudel too, although it is a little long and perhaps a touch overwrought. Still, better than Frida.

Another great artists-in-impossible-love movie is Carrington, about the painter Dora Carrington and the writer Lytton Strachey. Their romance was complicated by the fact that Strachey was, um, gay. Emma Thompson plays Carrington, Jonathan Pryce plays Strachey.

That's my current squeeze's favorite arty-sad movie. I think every woman I know (and most men) have at least one.

It's overwrought, but proportionately so. It's standard French IV/AP French material I think. . .
