you can actually see the ghost fleet from the highway as you drive over the bridge. supposedly many of the ships are kept in good enough shape to be recalled into some form of duty if necessary.

on a similar note is the air-force boneyard in tucson where they decommission a seemingly infinite number of fighters bombers and other planes in the middle of the desert. google maps

you can see the fields of b52s end to end and according to the tour they do this so that the russian satellites can see that they are decommissioned.

Paul's b52s remind me of the fields and fields of autos sitting in pretty colored rows that get a flyby in Koyanisqatsi (or possibly Naqoyqatsi but I don't think so). Anybody know where those are? I'd love to see that Google map. In fact, a GMap to document all the locations of that film (all of Koyanisqatsi is within the continental US if memory serves) is way overdue.
