Step Off, Surly Bonds is covering the flight of SpaceShipOne out of Mojave, Calif., today. If successful, it will be the first time a privately-funded and -built craft has ferried a human being into space, 100 kilometers up. Boing Boing has some more info. SpaceShipOne, like NASA’s space shuttle, actually glides back to earth and lands, which I find totally appealing. I never liked that splash-down business.
