The NYT’s annual booklist is out, in case you missed it.
(BTW, Rex’s annual list of lists is also in process.)

I was going to blog about this a few days ago, but: take a look at the "fiction and poetry" section of the NYT's 100. It contains five books of poetry:
Mary Jo Bang, Elegy
Juan Felipe Herrera, Half of the World in Light
Matthea Harvey, Modern Life
Clive James, Opal Sunset
August Kleinzahler, Sleeping It Off in Rapid City
Why are poetry and fiction grouped together? Does it skew the poems towards the novelistic?
