Going through an old notes file—a stash of loose ideas—and came across:
Game that starts like Duck Hunt, but then becomes this, like, pagan ritual -- the duck, when you hit it, explodes in a sea of color -- rainbow streamers -- the sky turns dark -- you have woken some dark Duck God...
Yep, still totally into that one.

I love that you switched to a courier like font to quote this.
If this game was developed, John Cleese, a la Fawlty Towers, might say: “If you don’t like duck, you’re rather stuck!”
@Saheli: Doesn’t it remind you of the text in old console games, or the early Megaman PC games???
I recounted this post to my 13 year-old brother today, after he described a made-up video game where you battle through surrealist paintings. He thought it was awesome.
(he’s since been repeating the phrase “dark duck god.”)
I can’t get that phrase out of my head either, “the dark duck god”. Clever 13-year old brother you have. I agree, it is compelling. If he liked that, there is all sorts of similar stuff out there. Two good ones:
1. “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson. Black-and-white movie version or short story.
2. “Young Goodman Brown” by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Short story.
Makes me think of:

I want one of your illustrator friends to draw this right now. This calls for an emergency drafting session. Help!
This sounds awesome and I took a picture in Japan of the Dark Duck God lair. All truth no lie.
The snarkmatrix awaits you
