Robin summed up my sentiment perfectly.

I'll add that we are all members of our own various tribes here, online, and I think most of us do actually sit back and realize how fulfilling they are, but I think think this is a bar-raising share in regards to (appreciated) self-consciousness, openness, and specifically, community.

Thanks, guys.

For what it's worth, The Arcade Fire's Funeral is a hauntingly beautiful, profoundly soul-ripping album if you listen to it and imagine that it's about two young kids who've placed a baby for adoption.

I know, because I remember.

As far as I'm concerned, the more of your descendants there are running around, the better for humankind.

Congrats dad. I'm an adoptive mom, so always want to know more about the other side. Just like I thought, it's all about what's good for the kid.

Your talk was really awesome, just really honest and refreshing (and maybe a little terrifying for grad student me! :) ). But anyways, I wanted to thank you for being so candid -- I really needed to be reminded that having "real life" impact your scholarly life isn't something to be avoided or ashamed of.

Best,

Maria
