From this liveblog and the last one, I feel like radio + internet — especially in the last five-to-eight years, after the big boom in “internet radio” and the first podcasts — is a poorly understood phenomenon. Newspapers, TV, movies, books, photos, magazines — we’re grappling with that a lot. Even music, in the form of digital tracks and videos and CD ripping and Pandora and stuff, we’re getting that.
But radio — actual, real radio — we don’t really get that, totally, yet. Even as stuff like NPR is actually doing really, really well, on the internet and off.
There’s a book to be written here. “Internet Radio.”
