Hot Chip's Vampire Weekend
 /

Oh boy, it’s a late entrant, but this gets my nomination for cover of the year. Hot Chip does Vampire Weekend’s “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa,” with vocals by Peter Gabriel.

Prediction: In two years, no one will listen to Vampire Weekend. But they will listen to this song. And they will be like, “Wait, that’s a cover?”

I figure Vampire Weekend will just become Peter Gabriel’s backing band after the inevitable sophomore slump.

Or their sophomore record will be a collaboration with Peter Gabriel.

I like the latter idea.

Haha! Touche on both counts. I’d buy it.

I heard the riff to “A-Punk” on a bumper for PBS Kids the other day. I bet that will have a long afterlife.
