100 Notable Books

The NYT’s annual booklist is out, in case you missed it.

(BTW, Rex’s annual list of lists is also in process.)

    Tim says:

I was going to blog about this a few days ago, but: take a look at the “fiction and poetry” section of the NYT’s 100. It contains five books of poetry:

    • Mary Jo Bang, Elegy
    • Juan Felipe Herrera, Half of the World in Light
    • Matthea Harvey, Modern Life
    • Clive James, Opal Sunset
    • August Kleinzahler, Sleeping It Off in Rapid City

Why are poetry and fiction grouped together? Does it skew the poems towards the novelistic?
