Google, you have just released Google Transit trip-planning apps for five new cities.
SAN FRANCISCO IS NOT AMONG THEM.
What the shiz, Goog? Do you not love your people?
I mean… TAMPA??
Update: See the comments. Who knew?
“Honolulu, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Tampa, and Eugene, Oregon”
Not yet ready to take on the nation’s biggest and baddest transit system: NEW YORK CITY.
[Not shilling, really not.]
Local.Live.com does some nice traffic mapping.
Wow — you know what I like? Arbitrary push-pins on the map. I have always wanted to be able to do that on Google Maps & then send the resulting diagram to people. Nice work, MSFT…
Probably because in San Francisco there’s always 10 public transit options for any trip. And they’re all slower than biking. Shilltastic.
Correction: nine are slower than biking, and one is faster than god. THAT’S WHY WE NEED THE GOOG.
Haha SF! We have Google transit in Seattle, although…
But yeah, local.live.com is getting pretty fancy nowadays. I love the new traffic stuff, and it’s really nice being able to right click a spot to say “directions from/to here.” That’s always bugged me about google maps.; you can do such cool things with their API, but they somehow missed adding right-click.
The Bird’s Eye view in local.live.com is neat too, although more of an “ooh neat” feature.
I’ve got a couple friends local.live team, they tell me there is some neat stuff coming up in…the future. It seems I forgot to ask when.
Whoah, whoah, whoah!
Via the comments in Kevin’s metblogs link above, I found HopStop. It totally does the SF public transit routing thing… NYC too!
No slick draggy-maps, but still. Pretty nice.

The title, it should be said, is a misnomer. You’ll see.
