Tabs!!
 /

Dudes. Our Googling monkeys tell us that more than half of Snarkmarket’s cosmopolitan, discerning, tastemaking audience still uses frickin’ IE. I don’t know if IE is still the hellish experience it was before I switched over, leaving you in constant peril of attack by nasty viruses and annoying popups. But I do know from the occasional moments when I’m forced to use it that it remains a far inferior browsing experience than Firefox for several reasons. Chief among those: 1) tabs, 2) extensions, 3) configurability, 4) display.

Watch the Rocketboom entry of Dec. 2nd, note the responses of the IE users surveyed, decide you don’t want to be in such company, and sacrifice the one minute and thirteen seconds it takes to install Firefox.

Hey, I’ve been ridin’ the Firefox train and taking long pulls on its horn at least as long as all y’all, if not longer. But still, when I’m on a machine in enemy territory, say, on Penn’s campus, and IE is the only game in town, I’ll still take a look at Snarkmarket, reading posts, following links, making comments — even though otherwise, the browsing experience is frustrating at best.

You should take it as a compliment that probably many of your readers are stealing time from their employers at their IE-shackled workstations to read your blog. And maybe we should enlarge the call-to-arms: tell your IT guys to put Firefox on your machine, if they won’t let you install it yourself, damn it!

🙂

Hey, I’m Safari all the way baby.

Except of course, when I’m at work, which is most of the time, uhm, yeah.

“Hey, I’m Safari all the way baby.”

I’m reproducing that first line so it still shows up in the Snarkmarket see-thru comment window on the main page, so that you can note, as I did, that when the ‘shadow’ of the page occludes the top of the word, “Safari” looks remarkably like… “Satan.”

Coincidence?

You be the judge.

By the way, if you’re still looking for feedback, I have to give a thumbs-down to the see-through/shadowed comment windows. They’re difficult to read, mostly because they cut off the top of the first and bottom of the last lines (and the left border, so you can’t even always make out the person’s name clearly). Also, there’s too much information for just a snippet and not enough to actually get into what’s said. I like the “X’s Thoughts”: that you have in the left sidebar for the longer posts much better. That should be your standard for comment display.

The snarkmatrix awaits you
